Work-Outs

Pair of dumbbells, green apple, measuring tape and bottle of water. Exercise and healthy diet concept.

Let me start by saying I hate, actually hate is a little strong…. Nah, hate accurately describes how I feel about working-out. Whenever I am in the gym, I feel that I should be doing something else, like reading a book or taking a class or visiting a friend or even picking up an old knitting project. But I work out because I like the results. I feel better. I have more energy. I sleep better. My appetite is curbed.

When traveling with my daughter, I can actually walk all day with her. I get a little irritated because I don’t actually enjoy walking for long periods of time. But I am physically strong enough to do it.

I will be posting some of my exercise plans on this page, but please note that they are based on my current level of fitness, so please don’t download and jump into my exercise plans without first consulting your healthcare provider(s) and a certified trainer.

Although I know the basics of weight lifting, every so often I hire a certified personal trainer to ensure that I’m progressing. I’m sure my trainers groan just as much as I do when they see me walking through the door. I like to think of it as a love–hate relationship. I love that I don’t have to figure out my workouts, yet I hate the workouts created for me. I’m sure my trainers hate me too; I don’t think I’ve gone through a single workout without cursing their name in my head of course. I would never verbalize those awful thoughts out loud.

In my attempts to get off easy I try to negotiate an easier workout, but I haven’t been successful yet. I’ll have to keep working on my negotiation skills; I’m sure one day they will work. My current trainer has added cardio to my workouts, because he hates me. Every time I turn around he keeps adding additional time and he even had the nerve to increase my cardio from 4 days a week to 5—yippie.
